Apart from being a talented Guitarist and Vocalist himself Bill Walker worked for the Decca and Gallo Record Company in South Africa in the late 40's. Bill was responsible for recording various bush tribes. These recordings were sent back to London, England where they were used to create new modern music, The most popular and recognized is Mbube which eventually became Pete Seeger's strongest song "Wimoweh" and later became the massive hit single "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

In the movie "Beware Mr. Baker" genius drummer Ginger Baker explains how his mentor Phil Seamen would play him these tribal beats in the late 50's. Ginger became the foundation of one of the most popular & influential bands ever.....Cream. Listen to Ginger Baker's drumming and it's instantly obvious!

Mr. Walker passed away on May 4th 2024 at 94 years of age.
